It seems like a year that I started taking chances again - my favourite albums of the year are predominantly albums by bands that I haven't heard of before (which isn't to say that they are albums by new bands as such!)

It was a year in which I spent a lot of time watching Mercury Rev live and also in which my enthusiasm wasn't quite matched by the quality of the records purchased. But it was also a year in which I found lots of bands because they supported Mercury Rev! Resolution for 2000? See more bands live.
